Most polycarbonates come in a thickness of 25mm or 35mm with a choice of 5 colour options. All options are designed to help decrease solar heat gain, and minimise glare. All options have superb thermal efficiency offering a U-Value of 1.3 for the 35mm thickness and 1.7 for the 25mm thickness.
Upgrading to a product such as Solarguard can reduce solar heat gain by up to an incredible 50% in comparison to some older or more conventional polycarbonates.
Upgrading using Bronze/Opal can ensure a bright internal appearance while providing privacy.
If Polycarbonate isn’t right for you, you want to lay back and gaze at the stars or enjoy the sunshine then perhaps an upgrade to a glass roof is what would suit your needs.
In much the same way as polycarbonate, technology has come a long way, and the glazing options are plentiful. All designed to improve thermal efficiency, reduce glare and damage the sun’s rays can do to your belongings, making your conservatory a far more comfortable and useable area all year round. Similarly, most conservatory glass options are self-cleaning, giving you more time to enjoy your space and less time doing the tedious task of cleaning.
Using high performance glass, you can achieve a U Value as low as 1.0 and can exclude as much as 83% of the sun’s energy without compromising on the huge amount of natural light (not to mention Vitamin D) that a glass roof allows into your room.
And it doesn’t have to end with your roof. You can upgrade you wall or window glass with a clear but effective option to improve the performance even further.
There are several new solid roof replacement roof options on the market to turn your conservatory into a glazed extension. All of the solid roof options we supply are pre-approved by Building Control, and you will be provided with a certificate upon completion. With a choice of finishing materials such as lightweight tiles in a choice of colours, or Aluminium panels which can be interchanged with glass there will always be an option to suit you and your home, whether a heritage or modern property. All of our solid roof options are combined with a fully insulated ceiling inside to turn your conservatory into a warm bright room you can use all year round and it could be up to 15 times more efficient than your current conservatory roof.
There are also a number of options with glazing – some solid roofs can have opening vents for light and ventilation, some can have full glass panels inserted to ensure you don’t lose any of the brightness your conservatory used to offer.
Many of the replacement roofs we offer are lightweight and can therefore be installed onto your existing frames, changing your conservatory completely and giving you the feel of an extension at a fraction of the cost, while still being able to enjoy the outside inside.
On top of all of these benefits, extending your home can add up to 11% to the value of your home. Conservatories have always added value due to desirability, but by replacing your roof with a solid roof, it counts as more of an extension than a conservatory thanks to its versatility and usability.
